Primitive Contextual Individuation

Recently, there has been growing intensity of discussions concerning the principle of objects’ individuation. In the article I will describe one of conceptions present in the discourse, namely primitive contextual individuation. I will also compare this position with other responses to the problem of individuation. What is more, I will show that some philosophers accept primitive contextual individuation due to a particular example from graph theory. I will also present arguments against it and why they may be found unconvincing. Finally, I will show ontological theories, formulated in the domain of philosophy of mathematics and physics, which primitive contextual individuation is present in.
